Class Announcements:
Important announcement for the First Day of classes:
Before class one week from today, you should email me at the following address lind@magnet.fsu.edu and include the following information in the message:
1. Your full name, and any preferred nickname,
2. Your social security number
3. What year you are in school.
4. Your email address (your preferred email address should be the return address of the email itself, but should also be included in the body of the text.), also, , include your phone number.
5. A sentence or more describing why you have chosen to be in this astronomy class.
6. The name and course number of the highest level math class your have taken, and whether you feel you are a strong or weak student in math. (This will be used to help me tailor the level of instruction to the students in the class, and not for anything else.)For example, my own email might look something like:
1. David M. Lind; I prefer David;
2. 123-45-6789;
3. I'm a tenth semester sophomore (No, not really!).
4. lind@magnet.fsu.edu; home phone is 893-6850 if your really need to contact me.
5. I'm taking this class because I think astronomy is the most fascinating thing in the whole world (or even beyond it, ha! ha!). And not only that, the university will give me liberal studies credit for a science that I need to graduate.
6. Differential Calculus, MAC4399; I think I'm pretty strong in math.
, and to guarantee that, your email to me will count as your first quiz. You will get one point for sending the email, and a half point for each piece of information from the six above that you include.
will be held during our regularly scheduled class-time ...., and the review materials for that test will be posted on the web at http://www.physics.fsu.edu/users/Lind/AST1002/review.htm.
Other announcements will be posted here periodically.
